Artist Statement by Michael Riddlesworth "Following a Southwest USA road trip with my family, I have created a series of paintings inspired by the weathered and re-used old signposts of rural New Mexico and Arizona. I am fascinated by the way they crack, peel and reveal layers of history. I have personalised each of my own paintings with locations that are important and memorable to me. The distance to each location is the mileage from the place the painting was created; a unique location and time stamp."

Biography
Michael Riddlesworth relocated from Leicestershire, England to Oregon in December 2009. He graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons)degree in Fine Art. Michael has exhibited his work in juried and non-juried shows in the United Kingdom and in Oregon, USA. His expressive impasto use of acrylics and oils in capturing the human form has developed from a long dedication to studying the figure. Michael has traveled throughout Europe, India and Mexico, where he has spent time observing, photographing and sketching the people and the architecture. |
